Originally begun as a youth centre to keep local “Maré” district kids away from other temptations in the impoverished locality, the organisation soon developed into a respected youth football club, provided feeder services to several of the Brazilian megacity’s more established sides, and eventually forming an adult team.

A blistering rise through the regional and national divisions saw As Perspectivas take their place at the national top table, instilling local pride and bolstering self-confidence amongst those growing up in Maré.

Earning the right to take part in the Kit League, Rio Maré have become an attractive option for players from across Rio, Brazil and South America, with even a few European talents making the trip to turn out in the sky blue, gold and white. This will only increase as the young club takes on all comers on a new stage.
