Paris 1789 ------------- [Under Construction]
Formed as part of the 1989 celebration of La République - marking 200 years since the Storming of the Bastille - Paris 1789 actually represent all things French. Appropriating the national motto reflects an outlook, but the past, including pre-Revolution times, is embraced in the stylings.
The regal overtones of the fleur-de-lis may be jarring for some, but its presence on the crest - and often featuring liberally on the kit - along with the image of a sailing ship is both French and Parisien, expressing pride in two overlapping cultures.
Going further, the ethos of the club and their attitude towards recruitment mirrors the cosmopolitan nature of the French capital, with winning being achieved - in no small measure - but never at all costs. The passion of sporting endeavour is central, but, in tasting victory the right way, the class of a young institution consistently prevails.
