About
Established in 1933, clandestinely, in reaction to intolerant politics sweeping through the nation at the time, Berlin Kapital’s original club name of Bayern Schöneberg nodded to the traditionally permissive Berlin district’s affluent Bavarian Quarter but, more generally, they boast a pedigree of representing - and being represented by - the underdog.
As time has passed, Die Mauerbrechers have embraced inclusivity with ever-increasing zeal. The club added a rainbow flag band to their socks as early as 1983 and earned their “Wall Breakers” nickname through the absorption of former East Germans into their fold both pre and post the Berlin Wall’s demolition.
Kapital’s iconic Lauterplatzstadion ground has become a symbol of freedom in all aspects of life and has played host to many of German football history’s most memorable matches, many celebrated - a few lamented - by the home support. With a tuned-up identity, the club will hope for many more glorious matchdays as they embark on their KIT LEAGUE adventure.
